The South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum in Columbia, South Carolina is seeking to hire a Chief Curator, a State of South Carolina Program Manager 1, Band 7 position.  This position will open on November 5 and close on December 6, 2024.  The Program Manager 1 will work independently as the Museum’s Chief Curator for Collections, Exhibits, and Programs, providing oversight and overall supervision of the museum's Artifact and Archival Collection, Interpretation of the Collection for all museum exhibits, which includes overseeing conception, design and interpretation, implementation and fabrication. The Chief Curator will provide oversight over the public programs and the education program, supervise the Curator of History, the Curator of Collections and Exhibitions, and the Education Curator, and be supervised by the museum's Executive Director. Minimum Requirements:  Masters degree in Museum Administration, History, Public History, or a related field and five years’ experience; or a 1 year graduate certificate in museum administration, exhibit design, or a related field and 7 years of experience; OR an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources.  A writing sample is requested.

Hiring range $56,201 -$75,000
