Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $48,600 - Midpoint: $60,800 (Salaried E7)

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm
Job Summary: The Collection Manager oversees the preservation, documentation, and overall management of museum collections. Records loan in database. Boxes and ships loans with loan invoice, mailing label, and customs forms for international shipments. Interacts with internal and external donors of archival collections.
Additional Department Summary: Builds and maintains the Paul R. Jones Art Collection of American Art. Develops exhibitions, audio-visual presentations, and publications. Organizes special events. Researches, compiles, and prepares written information on the collection. Ensures collection is properly preserved (preparatory activities, proper environmental control, and basic conservation). Develops recommendations on acquisitions, deaccessions, loans, and all other issues related to the management, care, and development of the permanent collection. Engage actively with advisory board as well as external organizations and donors. Provides subject matter guidance in exhibition and program development. Maintains an active record of research, publication, and/or external funding. Works closely with the Director of the Paul R. Jones Museum to ensure effective operation of the museum.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience in museum collections curation and/or museum collections management; OR master's degree and some experience in museum collections curation and/or museum collections management.
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Ability to organize, present, and communicate knowledge of current practices and innovations in museum curation and collections management. Ability to create effective messages through exhibition design. Ability to make presentations to faculty, students, and the general public. Excellent project management, research, and IT skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Museum Studies, Art History, American History, American Studies, or a related field and three (3) years of museum collections, curation, education, management, or equivalent experience. Familiarity with collections management software.
