    Art Museum Communications Coordinator/Marketing Coordinator

    The Job: The Art Museum’s Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing integrated marketing and communications plans for exhibitions, educational programs, fundraising events, community programs and development initiatives and work toward increasing the Museum’s visibility and attendance.

    Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    With the Board of Trustees, Executive Director and staff, develop, organize and implement the Art Museum’s strategic communication plan in alignment with the Museum’s strategic plan, exhibition and events schedule

    Exceptional storytelling and editing skills with the ability to create engaging content for diverse platforms and audiences.

    The capability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with different deadlines.

    The capability of developing and managing a marketing budget to support a strategic communication plan, including paid digital advertising.

    Plan and actively manage social media presence on multiple platforms, including designing social media posts.

    Reporting and data analysis of demographics, social media, and advertising campaigns.

    Research, write and coordinate distribution of press releases to the media.

    Serve as the main point of contact for media outlets.

    Maintain contact and mailing lists.

    Represent the Museum with a high level of integrity and professionalism, adhere to Museum policies and support management decisions in a positive, professional manner.

    Staying current on consumer and art/museum industry trends that may impact the museum.

    Photography as needed, and selecting images and clearing rights as required.

    Explore ways to increase engagement with diverse audiences and stakeholders alongside the Board of Trustees, Executive Director and museum staff.

    Write and edit copy for marketing materials including, but not limited to, newsletters, e-blasts, brochures and invitations.

    Setting and monitoring communications campaign effectiveness and producing timely reports for review.

    Assist in maintaining the museum website, through managing and updating content.

    Some assistance in the design of ads, brochures, flyers, etc.

    Required Qualifications:

    BA or BS degree required with major course work in public relations, communications or

    advertising/marketing

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Experience in social media management across multiple platforms

    Experience with website management and electronic communications

    Strong organizational skills and attention to details

    Proficiency in MS Office Programs and Adobe Creative Cloud (i.e., Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) – see notes above concerning graphic design as a requirement. Might want to list a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud as an asset, but not a requirement.

    Ability to create visual content, including photos, videos and some graphic design.

    Ability to work well with others and also work independently

    Knowledge and enthusiasm for contemporary visual art, artists, museums and exhibitions

    Preferred Qualifications:

    2-3 years of experience in related fields, including website management and social media.

    Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and WordPress.

    Graphic design experience would be preferred, but not required.

    Experience in corporate or nonprofit communications.

    Experience in digital marketing campaigns.

    Hours and Work Schedule:

    This is an exempt salaried position requiring availability during weekdays with occasional weekend, evening and holiday work. The Communications Coordinator position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and will not receive overtime pay for all hours worked in excess of a forty in seven-day work week.

    Salary Range:

    $40,000 - $50,000/year commensurate with experience
