    Museum Archivist Intern

    Part Time: 30 hours weekly, $15 per hour to start

    Description:

    Archivist Intern will be primarily responsible for cataloguing and creating finding aids for a large photonegative collection of images from the Augusta Chronicle ranging from the 1970s into the early 2000s. Other duties may involve additional archival projects as assigned by the Museum’s Registrar. This position will be part of the Museum’s collections staff and report to the Registrar.

    This is a one year, grant-funded position.

    Knowledge, Abilities, Skills:

     Knowledge of proper maintenance, organization, and research of archival collections.

     Knowledge of one or more CMS (Collection Management Systems) for the cataloging and record management of collections.

     Ability to work competently and efficiently in both autonomous and collaborative settings.

     Knowledge of finding aid formats, creation, and implementation.

     Exceptional attention to detail and organization.

    Education:

     ALA accredited MLS Preferred. 

     An equivalent combination of advanced subject degree and library/archives related experience will be considered.

    Experience:

    Two years’ experience in archival/library science work with knowledge of archival methods and object handling, or a combination of education and experience.

    Experience handling photographic collections preferred.
