Join Tryon Palace as our Education Branch Manager and lead the development of interpretive programs that connect visitors of all ages with North Carolina’s rich past. Based in the heart of New Bern at both the Tryon Palace historic site and the North Carolina History Center, this dynamic role combines leadership and creativity to deliver unforgettable educational experiences.

What You'll Do:

• Lead a team of dedicated educators, volunteers, and docents.
• Oversee the Education Branch budget and strategic planning.
• Design and evaluate engaging tours, workshops, and educational programs.
• Collaborate with teachers to create curriculum-aligned programs for K–12 audiences.
• Represent Tryon Palace at professional conferences and events.

What We’re Looking For:

• Deep knowledge of early U.S. history and public education.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Strong public speaking and interpretive experience.
• Ability to create educational programs that align with school curricula.
• Bonus: Familiarity with Tryon Palace’s historical and cultural significance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, or a related field.
• At least four years of experience in museum education or a related area (or an equivalent mix of education and experience).

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., with occasional weekend and holiday work.
