    The New Orleans Museum of Art is currently seeking applicants for the role of Associate Educator (PREK-8th). The Associate Educator (PreK-8th-grade) is a vital part of the Education Programs Division of the Learning and Engagement Department, focusing on the formative years of preschool through 8th grade. In close collaboration with the Education Programs Manager, NOMA colleagues, and school-based educators, the associate Educator (PreK-8th-grade) designs and administers multidisciplinary arts-based programming for PreK-8th-grade visitors, coordinates the Mini Masters program, an early childhood learning partnership with local schools, and Summer Art Camp. The ideal candidate will have proven experience supporting activities that engage PreK-8th-grade visitors.

    Responsibilities

           Design and administer multidisciplinary arts-based programming for PreK-8th-grade visitors.

           Create, administer, and evaluate preschool through 8th-grade programs, lesson plans, content for digital interpretation, school visits, tours, and art activities.

           Coordinate all components of the Mini Masters program, including administrative oversight, creating lesson plans and instruction materials for off-site school visits and onsite museum visits, and conducting teacher training.

           Coordinate all components of Summer Art Camp, including developing art-centered lesson plans, hiring and training Teaching Artists, and supervising the Art Studio.

           Provide administrative oversight of the Studio KIDS! Saturday art-making workshops for young artists.

           Organize the annual Taylor Scholars Day at NOMA.

           Assist with creating age-specific training materials for the Volunteer Docent program.

           Support the division with other tasks as needed, including but not limited to collaborating with the engagement division, assisting with departmental events, and contributing to departmental meetings and reports.

    Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies

           Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Education, Museum Education, Art History, Museum Studies, or Art Education), A Master's Degree in any listed areas is preferred.

           Minimum of 1 year teaching experience and proven track record in educational program development, preferably at the PreK-8th-grade level

           Skilled in planning and organization

           Proactive and creative problem solver

           Strong interpersonal skills

           Experienced in Google Suite

           Experience with database platforms (Axial, Tessitura, and Blackbaud)

           Budget management experience

           Excellent verbal and written communication skills

           Committed to accuracy and consistency

           Experienced in developing teacher resources and curriculum for PreK-8th-grade
