    The National WWII Museum is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Distance Learning. Reporting to the Director of Teaching & Learning, the Assistant Director of Distance Learning is responsible for the management and creation of online-based synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences utilizing Museum collections and assets for national K-12 and life-long learning audiences. The position develops new distance learning initiatives within the WWII Media and Education Center and fosters a variety of nationwide partnerships to present, produce, and distribute programming and content.

    Requirements

    • Manage, support and collaborate with the Distance Learning Specialist to create a variety of online and distance learning programs within the Education Department utilizing technologies and digital tools, like videoconferencing, webinar, and online learning services and software. This includes point-to-point programs, large scale online events, and online courses for students and educators.
    • Support the creation and distribution of Museum resources on a national-scale including but not limited to curriculum , classroom resources, traveling artifact trucks, online educational media, etc. Steward of the Museum's online content hub for K-12 students and teachers.
    • Operate Ross Graphite switcher, Xpression Graphics system, cameras, lighting, and other broadcasting hardware and software within the distance learning studio.
    • Develop and manage strategic local and national partnerships to present, produce, and distribute programming and content.
    • Work collaboratively with the Museum’s Marketing and Communications departments to promote and distribute programs and content.
    • Work collaboratively with the Museum’s Operations, A/V and IT teams to facilitate and support larger-scale productions and consult regarding latest technology and equipment to deploy in programs.
    • Work collaboratively with the WWII Media and Education Center, Collections departments, and the Institute for the Study of War in Democracy to consult, create content and present programs. 
    • Provide information, ideas, suggestions, and assistance to the Institutional Advancement Department and grant writing consultants to formulate sponsorship packages and grant applications for programs, activities, and initiatives.
    • Assist the Director of Teaching & Learning, the Associate Vice President of Education, Vice President of Education and Access, and the President’s Office in planning and logistical support for the meetings of Board Education Committee and the Board of Trustees.
    • Participate in assigned task forces, staff committees, projects, assignments, tasks, etc. as directed by the Director of Teaching and Learning.

    Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree (required) or Masters (preferred) with an emphasis on educational technology, formal or informal education, museum studies, instructional design, history, or a related field.  
    • Proficiency with distance learning tools, including videoconferencing platforms and software, broadcast studio tools, and course management systems. Ease in learning and testing latest technologies is a must. Understanding of media production is a plus.
    • A minimum three years experience in project management and formal or informal learning instruction. Experience in leading team members to implement projects is required.
    • Ability to create lesson content, research, and write scripts for K-12 curricular resources.
    • Knowledgeable understanding of World War II is preferred but not required.
    • Strong organizational skills, including managing complex scheduling and project timelines.
    • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to push, pull, and lifting weights up to 20 pounds. May require prolonged sitting, standing, and/or walking during which time objects are transported. May require bending, squatting, or reaching and occasional use of equipment.
