    The National World War II Museum is currently seeking an Institute Associate. The Institute Associate is a Part-Time position that performs research and writing functions for the Institute’s Historical Research Services (HRS), performs HRS duties, and takes part in the Institute’s public programs and presentations. The Institute Associate is responsible for fielding research requests and inquiries sent to the Institute,  and aiding with research on veterans and providing exceptional customer service to HRS clients.

    Requirements

    1. Support of the Institute’s HRS with researching WWII veterans’ military service.
    2. Scan and review official Official Military Personnel Files (OMPF).
    3. Record, research and answer public inquiries that come through the Rosie emails and phone inquiries.
    4. Attend and participate in the Institute’s public programs, seminars, and events.
    5. Handle public requests for information directed to the Museum.
    6. Share in the intellectual life of the Museum and support key Institute events.
    7. Assist Institute members with other tasks and perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Historical Research Specialist of the Institute for the Study of War and Democracy.

    Qualifications

    1. Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of WWII, the US role in the war, and a commitment to research and career goals that are consistent with the Institute for the Study of War and Democracy, and, more broadly, The National WWII Museum.
    2. Applicants must hold master’s degree (MA) in American History or Military History (or a related specialty). 
    3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and abilities – verbal, written, and digital.
