    Job Summary:

    The Fiscal Technician I is responsible for a variety of finance, accounting, and some administrative duties under the general supervision of the Finance Manager.

    Oversight responsibilities:

    • Performs varied clerical accounting and bookkeeping duties which may include posting, updating, reconciling, routine auditing, and preparing summary financial and statistical reports.
    • Attends all necessary trainings and gains knowledge needed to be more successful in all job duties.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Verifies disbursements, expenditures, data processing reports, and fund transfer requests for accuracy, legality, and authorization.
    • Responsible for cashier operations and
    • functions including preparing credit card, cash, and check receipts.
    • Assists in the receipt, inventory, storage, and distribution of supplies, mail, and equipment.
    • Answers questions and assists personnel in a variety of areas including collections and delinquent accounts.
    • Prepares or assists in the preparation of invoices, receipts, vouchers, and bank deposits.
    • Prepares and edits financial and statistical reports, schedules, and statements.

    Minimum and Additional Requirements

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Thorough understanding of policies and control procedures involved with revenue receipts.
    • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Excel, or related software.
    • Experience or ability to learn, understand and use point of sale software including the Gateway Galaxy Point of Sale, or similar software.
    • Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies and notice questionable trends in receipt reconciliation.
    • Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information.

    Education and Experience:

    • A 2- year degree or equivalent with at least 2 years cash handling experience.
    • A high school diploma, at least 2 years of experience, with 1 year in supervisory role, and entry-level experience in accounting, bookkeeping, with depository knowledge.
    • At least two years of experience in computerized bookkeeping or related retail computer experience.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
    • Must be willing and able to travel throughout assigned area.
