    Overview: The Upcountry History Museum is seeking a qualified individual to fill the full time position of Education Coordinator.  The UHM is an award-winning and Smithsonian affiliated institution centered around its mission of connecting people, history, and culture.  Through its collections, programs, and exhibitions the Museum preserves and interprets historical subjects pertaining to the Upcountry of SC, while bringing quality museum offerings from around the world to the Upcountry to encourage people to discover the world and the Upcountry's role in it.

    Job Summary: The UHM's Education Coordinator is an experienced colleague with a talent for creating original programming, a love of history, and a passion for engaging the public with museum collections, exhibitions and experiences. The Education Coordinator creates and delivers high-quality educational initiatives that make the Museum's collection, research, and exhibitions meaningful for both museum visitors and the community.

    Reporting to the Education & Program Manager, the Education Coordinator provides support and leadership for the development, implementation, and promotion of the Museum's growing suite of educational programs.  In partnership with the Education & Program Manager, the position develops, manages, and delivers UHM educational, public, and exhibition-related programs.  The Museum's year-round offerings include camps, classes, workshops, lectures, tours, and events onsite, virtually, and offsite.

    The position assists in overseeing volunteers and interns, works with marketing team to enhance awareness of departmental initiatives, assists with cultivating and maintaining relationships with community organizations, and performs other related duties as assigned. 

    Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in education, museum studies, history, or a closely related field.  At least three years of education and public program management experience. Demonstrated experience facilitating learning experiences for audiences of a range of ages and for mixed audiences. Ability to move a project through different phases. Ability to work in a fast paced environment on multiple, varied projects and the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities. Ability to work both independently and with co-workers, interns, volunteers, and the public professionally and tactfully, and support management decisions and goals in a positive, professional manner. Must be willing to help others succeed. Must posses a valid driver's license and a personal vehicle. Effective and exceptional written and verbal communication skills with both internal teams and external stakeholders; comfortable with public speaking. 

    Preferences: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in education, museum studies, history, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.  Knowledge of the use of social media for informal education.
