    The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (AMFA), located in Little Rock, AR, seeks a Communications Manager to advance the institution during an extraordinary transformation that includes the construction of a new state-of-the-art building, scheduled to open in 2022. Designed by the renowned architecture firm, Studio Gang, the new facility will secure the AMFA’s position as one of the top cultural institutions in the state and region. The new AMFA will feature state-of-the-art galleries, Art School, theater, lecture hall, outdoor event area, and other spaces to host programming, classes, and performances. The innovative Cultural Living Room, restaurant, store, and landscaped grounds will position the AMFA as a cultural hub for Little Rock and the region.

    The Communications Manager is responsible for creation and execution of effective communications strategy across multiple platforms including online, print, social and electronic media and is passionate about institutional storytelling in the visual and performing arts. This role will work closely with Curatorial, Education, Performing Arts, Development, and Marketing Department staff to ensure the AMFA story remains relevant to the community and inspires thoughtful conversation and engagement with art. 

    Primary Duties and responsibilities: 

    ·         With the Director of Marketing and Communications, develop and implement an innovative, comprehensive, and strategic public relations plan to achieve organizational objectives.

    ·         Write and edit copy for marketing and public relations projects, including but not limited to: quarterly WORKS magazines, social media posts and events, email newsletters, letters, blogs, and new releases.

    ·         Develop and leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts locally, regionally, and nationally.

    ·         Pitch, schedule and manage media appearances, including content, transportation, and speakers.

    ·         Develop and manage social media strategies to grow followers, improve outreach and increase engagement. Manage postings on social media channels including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.

    ·         Assist with the gathering and consolidation of revisions and internal approvals for print and digital material

    ·         Monitor, collect, organize, and analyze media clips to create reports public relations results.

    ·         With Marketing staff, maintain library of internal photography, including scheduling professional photographers for key events. 

    ·         Manage photography and public relations assets on Flickr for distribution to media outlets. 

    ·         Assist with responding to all requests for images or institutional information.

    ·         Proofread and edit all marketing and public relations projects in accordance with AP, APA or Chicago style, as needed, adhering to accepted organizational conventions.

    ·         Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers and key community and strategic partners.


    CANDIDATE PROFILE: 

    ·         Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university  

    ·         2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    ·         Experience with and ability to manage a variety of online platforms, social media sites, spreadsheet, scheduling, content management and database solutions.

    ·         Exceptional writer and editor with excellent verbal and presentation skills.

    ·         Proactive, organized, an excellent communicator, warrior at multi-tasking.

    ·         Ability to understand art as it relates to different cultures and changing political climates.
