    Job Title:  Collections Manager/Registrar        

    Department: Collections and Exhibitions            

    Reports To:  Director of Curatorial Affairs

    Basic & Primary Responsibilities of Position:

    The Collections Manager is responsible for the care, management, and use of the Gibbes Museum of Art’s permanent collection and loaned works of art, and for the logistical movement of incoming and outgoing special exhibitions. The Collections manager works under the direction of the Director of Curatorial Affairs in the Collections and Exhibitions Department along with the Head Preparator and the Curatorial Assistant to ensure the highest level of stewardship of the Gibbes permanent collection, its presentation, storage, and safety within the Gibbes and loaned locations. The Collections Manager implements best-in-class registration processes and ensures that all work is consistent with current professional museum practices. The Collections Manager assists with institutional planning, budgeting, and implementation of museum-wide policies and procedures that promote the safe and thoughtful presentation of art within the Gibbes.
