The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum is seeking a qualified contract conservator to help improve our loan program. Working closely with our registrars, the contractor will prioritize our loaned artifacts, solicit condition reports from the borrowing institution and assist the institution in improving their level of stewardship.
The period of performance is flexible and is estimated to begin in spring 2021 for a duration of 12-24 months. There is the opportunity for remote work and potentially travel, depending on limitations due to covid-19.
The work will be coordinated through the Conservation Unit of the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia. Additional information about this project, including the Request for Quote and Statement of Work can be requested from Elizabeth Beesley (BeesleyE@si.edu). Responses to the RFQ are due by Monday, March 1, 2021.
